Tech Tube was approached by a client in the medical industry and asked to manufacture high precision cobalt cardiovascular stent tubing. The tubing was first prototyped through an exacting product engineering and support process.
We managed the entire production of the tubing, from the initial melt through to the final product. Extruded tube could not meet the client’s requirements, so we used custom bar stock and gun drilled the raw materials to create the finished tube. The tubing then underwent medical-grade cleaning and a specialized annealing process. The detailed inspection process included checks for concentricity, wall runout, eddy current, chemistry, mechanical properties, and 100% straightness verification. The tubing’s critical medical applications left no room for error. Throughout the entire delicate process, we maintained the tightest tolerances. Each year, we produce enough tubing to support the manufacturing of over 3 million medical stents.
